GDPR in the Clouds

Evening event @ The Shard – 6PM 15th June 2017

“GDPRoofing”  your
Outsourcing Relationships

• What you need to know

• What you need to do next

Expert advice from Ian De Freitas – one of the UK’s foremost legal experts on the implications of GDPR on Outsourcing, and Edward Charvet – a specialist in data analytics who founded the niche consultancy firm Trovus, acquired in 2015 by Logicalis.

An invitation only event offered free of charge but available ONLY to current employees of mid-sized EU Financial Services firms, and by approval only, their nominated consultants.

Ian De Freitas has been working with primarily larger Tier 1 firms to understand the likely impacts of GDPR for more than 4 years, and has been actively aiding Clients to prepare from a legal standpoint since the legislation was finalised in early 2016. Since Autumn 2016 he has seen a dramatic upturn in the number of smaller mid-sized Financial Services firms who are beginning to pay attention to this issue. Ian will also share his substantial experience of dealing with data security breaches and investigations by the ICO to explain what enforcement of GDPR might look like post May 2018.

Edward Charvet has been leading Logicalis’ approach to support tier 2 financial service firms as they move towards compliance for GDPR.  Working closely with Ian, Logicalis provides automation services for structured and unstructured data discovery, as well as ensuring appropriate classification of PII to ensure each client gains, and maintains, control of relevant data sources in the context of GDPR.

At this intentionally highly social and interactive networking event set against the backdrop of the setting sun over the London skyline, Ian and Ed will share their knowledge and experiences for about 45 minutes covering the topics below, and will then be available for 90 minutes to answer your specific questions 1 to 1 over a glass of wine and a sumptuous buffet.

Agenda for Presentations (starting approx 7PM):

• Understanding what Financial Services firms need to do be GDPR Compliant

• Delineating the roles of the Data Processor and Data Controllers

• How GDPR fundamentally changes supplier relationships, and

• How it will therefore mandate re-aligning your contractuals with your Outsourcing partners

The session will be moderated by Ray Bricknell of Behind Every Cloud – founder of the Clover Index benchmark which has recently been endorsed as the Gold Standard for benchmarking CSP’s by the Cloud Industry Forum.
